Having used Dreamweaver for years to build websites in my company Allure Creative, I decided to try Microsoft's new web design product Expression Web mostly because of its ASP.net 2 support. I figured that Dreamweaver would remain my primary HTML tool because of its excellent CSS support and refined interface.

 

But once I started using EW while still in BETA, I quickly discovered that the folks at Microsoft had created a truly revolutionary package. EW's CSS support was outstanding with great flexibility and intuitiveness. Dreamweaver could learn from EW!

 

And the ease at which it implemented ASP.net 2.0 Master Pages put its big brother Visual Studio to shame.

 

And so I set out to force myself to give up my once beloved Dreamweaver in favor of a totally new program and in some respects, new way to do things.  I won't say it was easy to switch from Dreamweaver - a program I know inside and out, up and down and everyway in between - to the brand new EW. Old habits die hard. But I can say I am glad I made the switch.

 

Once I built a number of websites using EW I decided to share what I had learned with others. I believe that my extensive experience with creating several hundred commercial websites and a long time ASP/ASP.net programming experience has helped me to create tutorials where hard-learned knowledge can be shared with others.

 

In creating LearnExpressionWeb.com, I've made no assumptions about your level of expertise.  I did not intend for these tutorials to become a complete EW 101 course covering every aspect and detail of EW.  Instead I choose to organize tutorials into fairly small "bitesize" chunks that are easily accessible with the  aim to help you find just the answers you need when you need them.
